Weddings

"Your love story, beautifully told"

Your wedding ceremony will be created around your love story – a celebration of love, life, caring and hope. By really getting to know you as a couple and listening to your dreams, your funny moments, what makes you laugh, your hopes and wishes for the future, we can shape a truly unique ceremony that will reflect who you are and what matters most.

Writing your own wedding vows or promises can feel exciting but sometimes slightly daunting. I can help you think about what you want to promise, how you want your words to sound and how much you would like to say. Some couples write completely individual vows, others prefer shared promises, shorter personal words, or vows we develop together. What matters is that they sound like you.

How I support you

From our first conversation, I’ll guide you through the process without telling you what your wedding ceremony should look like. I want to hear about your love story, your vision and tone for the day, what you admire about one another and the moments that have shaped your relationship.

I will help support family and friends who would like to contribute to the ceremony.

I’ll help you explore wedding ceremony ideas such as involving children, pets, readings, poems, symbolic rituals and ways to make the ceremony feel completely personal. I’ll then write a unique ceremony including your agreed wedding vows or promises for you to review and make any changes.

I will liaise with your venue and other suppliers, where needed, ensuring the ceremony runs smoothly alongside the rest of your day.

In-person wedding rehearsal – if required, a walk-through to ease any last-minute nerves.

On the day itself, I’ll be a calm and steady presence — welcoming your guests, guiding everyone through the ceremony and making sure you can relax into the moment rather than worrying about what comes next.

Renewal of Vows

"Loving you then, loving you now, loving you always"

Many couples choose to celebrate milestones in their marriage by renewing their vows, surrounded by family and friends. The choice of where you do this is entirely up to you - your home or your garden, a favourite beauty spot, on the beach, in a woodland or a favourite venue. You might be celebrating 10, 25, 50 or more years together.

Perhaps your original wedding was small or very traditional, and you now want a ceremony that feels more personal and more you. You may have come through a difficult chapter together and want to recognise the strength of your relationship or you may simply want to gather the people you love and say, once again - "we still choose each other."

Whatever brings you to the moment, a renewal ceremony gives you space to look back at where you began, recognise everything that has happened since and celebrate the life you continue to share. Like a wedding ceremony I can help you create a highly personalised ceremony that reflects your love story and what matters most.

How I support you

The choice of venue is up to you, your home, your garden, a woodland, a sandy beach or a significant venue. I will help you to create a wonderfully personalised ceremony that can include your original vows or new, rewritten vows reflecting on who you are and your journey as a couple.

Symbolic rituals can be included such as a ring re warming, a wine ceremony, a Quaich ceremony, tree planting or a ritual that combines your unique cultures and traditions.

If you would like to include children or grandchildren, we can create a ritual around them such as a Unity Candle ceremony where you could light a candle along with the children to represent the love of the family as well as your love for each other.

We can include unique elements that are centred on what matters most to you. In doing so, your day will be a relaxed, happy, exciting and a memorable event for everyone to enjoy.

Naming Ceremonies

"A name to carry, a life to celebrate"

Whether you're welcoming a baby into the world, honouring a new identity or embracing diversity, there are many exciting ways to celebrate a new chapter. The commitments you make will create a magical, shared experience, remembered for a lifetime.

Families may choose a ceremony for an older child, after an adoption, when families blend together, following a name change or simply because they want to recognise an important new chapter in family life.

How I support you

There is no set format, which means we can build the ceremony around the people and relationships that matter most to your family at a venue of your choice.

We will arrange a face-to-face meet, and I’ll take time to understand your family, the hopes you have for your child and the people you would like to include.

Instead of godparents, you might choose guide-parents — trusted family members or friends who can promise to support, encourage and walk alongside your child as they grow.

Siblings, grandparents and other family members can also be involved, making the ceremony a celebration not only of the child but of the family and community around them.

The ceremony can include the story behind the name, music, poems or a reading from their favourite book.

Meaningful rituals such as creating a memory box, naming a star, filling a time capsule, a wish tree or performing a sand ceremony can be included.

A naming certificate or keepsake will be presented to mark the day.

Funerals

"Held close in memory, wrapped tight in love"

Saying goodbye to loved ones is not easy, but I will be with you every step of the way.

I will take time to get to know and understand your loved one — your special memories, what made them laugh, their hobbies, who held them close, their dreams and their legacy. I can include religious elements such as a prayer, bible reading or hymn. Together we will create a ceremony that truly reflects your wishes and honours the life of the deceased. Every ceremony is handled with dignity and love.

How I support you

I will deliver a ceremony that truly reflects your wishes and the beliefs and wishes of your loved one - and in doing so, create a ceremony that is both meaningful and memorable for everyone involved.

During our first meet I will carefully listen and get to know you and your loved one through your memories, the funny stories, their life journey, their character and their legacy.

I will liaise with the Funeral Director to help coordinate the ceremony plans. As a Civil Celebrant I am not affiliated to any religion and therefore the ceremony can be either non-religious or contain some religious elements - such as hymns, readings or prayers.

You may want to invite family and friends to take part in the ceremony by means of music, stories, poems, readings and personal tributes. I will ensure all contributors are prepared and supported.

I will guide and support you on the day to create a unique and heartfelt goodbye.

Direct Cremations & Memorials

Some families now choose a direct cremation, where the cremation takes place without a formal funeral service. That can be the right choice for many different reasons, but it does not mean you have to miss the opportunity to come together and remember the person you love.

A separate memorial ceremony after a direct cremation can be held at a time and place that feels right for you — perhaps in a home or garden, a meaningful venue, a natural setting or somewhere that held a special significance.

Without the pressures of a traditional funeral timetable, this can give family and friends more space to gather, share memories, reflect and say goodbye in a way that feels personal and unhurried. A memorial ceremony can still include many of the same meaningful elements as a funeral service — stories, music, readings, photographs, memories from family or symbolic rituals — but with the freedom to shape the gathering around you and your family.

A celebrant who truly listens

"It's an honour and privilege to guide people through the most important moments in their lives."

Hello, I am Caroline, an Independent Civil Celebrant trained by the International College of Professional Celebrants (ICPC) and I hold a NOCN Level 3 qualification in Civil Celebrancy.

I love working with individuals, couples and families to create and deliver unique, heartfelt ceremonies that mark the key moments in life from birth to bereavement. I mark these moments with love, warmth, care and meaning.

After having worked in industry, events management, school classrooms and as a Childline counsellor, I became a celebrant because I lost a dear friend, far too young, to an aggressive cancer.

At that moment, I took the time to reflect on what truly mattered to me. I realised that what brings me the greatest joy is understanding people and helping celebrate the brilliance, individuality, and unique stories of their loved ones.

I love to laugh and share my heart. I cherish and thrive on the connections I make, and it feels such a privilege to walk beside families during their key life moments.

I live in Chesham, a market town in Buckinghamshire, surrounded by the beautiful Chiltern Hills that, Ted the terrier, and all my family enjoy exploring. I love to tap dance (not quite like Ginger Rogers) and love the joy of singing in my local community choir.

Everything you need to know.

What is the difference between a Registrar and a celebrant?
A Registrar is a council-employed official who operates in licensed venues, follows set words, procedures and often limits their time to 30 minutes. A professionally trained Celebrant will meet with you well in advance, either at your home or another venue if you'd prefer and design the ceremony entirely around you. Ceremonies can be conducted almost anywhere — including woodlands, gardens and stately homes — and can incorporate a religious element if desired.
Why choose a celebrant?
In choosing a celebrant you will have total creative freedom. Celebrants can help you create a deeply personal ceremony. They can meet you in your home or any chosen location, spend time listening to your wishes and vision, build a strong connection, and help shape, write and deliver a truly unique, personalised and heartfelt ceremony in a venue of your choice.
Can a celebrant conduct a legally binding wedding?
Currently a celebrant cannot complete the legal paperwork for a marriage. However, many couples visit a register office to sign the legal paperwork, then use a celebrant to deliver a beautiful, unique ceremony in a special location to share with friends and family.
Can a celebrant include a religious element?
Yes, a civil celebrant can include religious elements in ceremonies such as a hymn, a bible reading or a prayer. Humanist celebrants do not offer this.
Can I include children in my ceremony?
Yes, absolutely. There are many lovely symbolic rituals that children take part in such as lighting a Unity candle, sand pouring which represents the blending of families or presenting children with a small gift during the ceremony can make them feel valued and celebrated. Couples may wish to include personalised promises to their children in the vows.
What areas do you cover?
I am based in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, and work across the surrounding counties including Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Berkshire. Please do get in touch to discuss your specific location — I will do my best to accommodate.
How far in advance should I book?
For weddings and larger events I recommend getting in touch as early as possible — many couples book 12–18 months ahead. For funerals, naming ceremonies and vow renewals, I will always do my very best to accommodate you.
What happens at our first meeting?
Our first meeting is all about getting to know each other. It's for me to listen to you and understand your wishes and vision for the ceremony. I can arrange to visit you at your home, at a location of your choice or we can arrange an online chat.
Can we include pets in our ceremony?
Yes, of course. Pets hold such a special place in our hearts so whether you have a pet goat, donkey, rabbit or a beloved dog they can play a special role in your day.

Your most important moments deserve to be uniquely yours.

Tell me a little about what you have in mind, and I will help guide you through every step.
